Thursday W4D5+

W4D5+

I love running in the morning. It is light enough at 7 to see what I need to see but cars still need their headlights to see me. And then, by the time I am cooling down, the sun is coming up and it's like a little celebration as I walk home.

The weather is between temps these days. Long pants, long sleeve shirt but a stocking cap is just too much at the end. My entire head is wet. Soon I'll be going out in shorts and my legs will light the way.

I'm liking the route I've finally settled on. All the way to Fence Line, return, up Abilene, across Smokehouse, down Wagon Train.

Kept it going through the whole run. I had to pause Chubby's podcast while I waited to cross Beckett and I slowed to a walk during the last 5 min at Smokehouse when a car seemingly veered toward me on the side of the road. Apparently she needed to speak to the (small?) person in the backseat but she aimed the car right at me and it put me slightly off my game. Weird. And a tiny bit scary. I sped (?!) back up and finished pretty strong on the downhill run.

We leave for the weekend. Should I try to run while we're away? The amount of stress I put into figuring my routes tells me, "no."  I'll pick it up again Monday morning and try W5.

Tuesday WIN! W4D5+

W4D5+

Today I wasn't going to go for the run because it was raining like crazy. But the storms all magically passed by the time I got home from taking T to school. So I got into my costume and took off.

I. was. awesome.

Mia (Chubby Jones) really helped me along and when she called the final 10 seconds of the final 5 min, I actually straightened up, powered up and hurried up! I ran strong, dammit.  I ran strong.

During my cool down walk (with my arms in the air ala Rocky) I realized that I hadn't eaten much of a breakfast before running. One piece of sausage before taking T to school. Maybe there is something to that.

I plan on one more day in W4 and then off to conquer W5.

And I don't care that my 9 weeks are turning into 18. With an option for more.

Thursday Holy Shit! W4D5+

W4D5+

Did the Abilene, Smokehouse, Chuck Wagon, down Wagon Train route. Yes! Much better.
And I listened to a new podcast by Chubby Jones (Mia) and so had different music. The best thing was at the end of the last 5 min run, she says, "Holy shit! You did it!" It was awesome.

I kept running through the whole thing. I kept those feet moving and powered through all of the runs. "Power" for me, which basically means forward motion. But hey!! I'm pretty proud of myself.

I felt a bit of stress on my right ankle. It really depends on the wrap and the tightness of the laces. I adjusted a bit into the warm up walk.

~~And now it is Sunday. I just don't feel the plan coming together. T and I stayed in bed reading Ender's Game for part of the morning and I'm just not motivated to get out there. Plus it is starting to rain and who can be bothered with that? So, I will commit myself to going tomorrow morning. Yes, I will. Yes, I will. Yes, I will.

Tuesday (a week later) W4D5

W4D5

I WILL kick these 5 min runs before I move on. I WILL!

Got stalled out for a few days by rain and an ear infection. Drag.

So, this morning, I got up, ate a banana, popped in the headphones and headed out. It was hard. It was painful on the lungs and legs but it was sweet because I. KEPT. GOING!!!

That's right, you heard me.

Route: Regular, turning back just short of Fence Line and back into the neighborhood going up Abilene, left on Smokehouse, down Chuck Wagon and then back up for the last walk. Running down hill is much easier.

Found a few new podcasts. I'll give them a try. Ullrey is great but the techno stuff is getting a little old.

Tuesday stalled, again W4D4

W4D4

Ran it but didn't feel it.

I think I am so completely preoccupied with the route that I can't wrap my head around it. Neighbors must think I'm an idiot...or lost.

I'm going to put in a couple more days in W4 so that I can actually run those 5 min runs without stopping and then I will move on.

My 9 week c25k is turning into 18 week +.

sigh.

Sunday Son day W4D3

W4D3

Woke up today and ate a good breakfast! So important. T asked to go along so we suited up and synced our MP3 players. It was on the chilly side so we were in sweats, long sleeve shirts, hats and gloves. Turns out we both wanted out of the hats and gloves before the last runs.

T's podcast was a few seconds ahead of mine so I tried to just watch him for the stops. He runs every day at school so he could go a little faster and harder than I could. He got ahead of me from the start but would double back on the recovery walks.

First 3 min - ok. 90 sec recovery - too short. First 5 min - I had to slow to a walk for 30-40 sec in the middle. During the 2.5 min recovery walk, I had to repack T's hat and gloves into my pockets. They were dragging his pants down. On the 2nd 3 min run, we turned up Wagon Train to try the amended route. It is still uphill but at a lower grade. Spent the next 90 sec recovery repinning T's pants since they were now slipping down with nothing in the pockets. So, didn't get quite as far as I wanted (I wanted to do the last 5 min run going downhill) and started the final 5 cresting the slight hill. Ran downhill and around the corner to our house. T chose that route - he was ahead of me. He ran right up to the front door but we needed to cool down so we spent our 5 min cool down walking the culs-de-sac and catching our breath.

I'll give W4 another day or 2 to build up my endurance. I want to get through those 5 min runs with air in my lungs.

Friday try day. W4D2.5

W4D2.5

I started out my run this morning feeling pretty good and ready to bang it out. At the end of the first 3 min run I was really feeling it in a bad way and wondered what was going on. 3 min has been "doable" lately...then it hit me. I forgot to eat breakfast! I focused on getting the kid fed and then spent valuable minutes on FACEBOOK. Damn you , FB. You are insidious. You ate up my  minutes while I could have been eating. Evil Evil Evil.

So after I struggled to almost get 4 minutes out of the 5 min run - I just turned off the podcast and hoofed it home. There is no good reason for me to found writhing by the side of the road by a concerned (or laughing) neighbor.

Sunday, I try try again.
After my Cheerios.

Thursday - nope.

Kiddo had to finish up homework this morning after crashing with a headache last night so I didn't get to run.
It put me a bit out of sorts. :(

I was placed back into sorts by Sue S. who approached me at ACE and asked, "What are you doing to lose weight?" and when I replied that I didn't think I actually WAS losing weight, I realized that I was hitching up my pants for the 10th time that morning. Maybe I am redistributing matter throughout the universe....
